None of the programs were integral to the operation of Windows. this espeacially happen with intel 845 motherboard or sometimes by i865 motherboard.. I'm starting to hate that letter. Whenever I'm away from the computer for an extended time, I always go to Start and put it in sleep mode. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. I had to leave the house for a while, so placed it in Sleep mode, but then realized I'd forgotten to do something, so before it actually went into sleep mode I zeroed the drive at the physical level using WinHex (at least it's not a **** DOS tool and I could verify it was being done).

Turns out that USB is no faster than DVD+/CD-RW anyway (actually quite a bit slower and less functional).I have to admit I'm rather, eh, unimpressed by it.
